Some Figures on German Investments in Vietnam

According to the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment, until the end of 2023, there were 463 foreign investment projects from Germany with the total registered investment capital of USD 2.683 billion. Germany ranks 17/144 of the countries and territories investing in Vietnam making it number one among European countries having investment in Vietnam.

Germany is the biggest trade partner of Vietnam in Europe accounting for 19% of the total export volume of Vietnam to Europe in 2020. It is estimated that more than 300 big corporations present in Vietnam including Siemens, Messer, Mercedes-Benz, Deutsche Bank, Bosch…

According to newspapers, a survey conducted among the German businesses in Vietnam in 2023 shows that 91% German businesses intend to expand their investment in Vietnam.

Most of German investment projects are located in the South (approximately 60%, especially Ho Chi Minh City (more than 280 projects).

Most projects invest in processing, technical services, telecommunications; banking, insurance etc. more than 26/64 provinces and cities of Vietnam have investment from German investors.
